It happens to the best of us. Amidst the many items in our closet, we tend to pick one that we like using as frequently as possible. With today’s latest trend, it’s safe to say that stretch denim jeans are among the ladies’ favorite to wear. It is stylish and timely, given the dropping temperature in most parts of the globe, now. I could think of so many reasons why stretch denims are my personal favorite, but I will try to break them down into three major reasons.
Sexy as leggings, but deliver the same functions as regular jeans
There is no doubt that stretchy jeans, including jeggings are the best compromise between denim jeans and leggings. It accentuates all the flattering curves without being as revealing as the typical leggings. They can even be worn in the offices, and still look appropriate enough. If you got good bum, then some stretchy denim is definitely your best friend.
Denim is truly among the most reliable piece of clothing there is, however, when it comes to comfort and flexibility, stretch denim is the most trusted pair. If you are a woman who is constantly on the move, riding different transportation, and climbing flights of stairs, then wearing your favorite stretch denim is one of the most stylish and comfortable choice.
Easy to pair with any top
Since stretch jeans are already flattering enough, you can basically just pair it with almost any top, depending on your choice of outfit for the day. Stretch denim looks as good when worn with a basic tee as when worn with a fancy blouse. You can pair it with a classic belt, and you’re good to go for the day.
Sewing Own Denim Jeans
While on the topic of sewing for fashion, I’m pretty sure many of us have also wished to be able to sew our own stretchy jeans. Like most fabric, anything that has a stretch will definitely be a challenge, even for those who have been sewing for years. Luckily, the softer denim fabric make it easier for us to play around with the design. So apart from sewing jeans, you can also make dresses and skirts with a stretch denim.
To avoid the usual problems with the usual stretch fabric, always make sure that during the measurement part, you are able to place the stretch width-wise. This will prevent inaccuracies in your body vis a vis fabric measurement. It would also greatly help to pre-wash the fabric before sewing, so you are already able to consider the possible fabric shrink before measuring.
Once you have already worked with a simple stretch denim fabric, you will find it easier to create more challenging ones in your next sewing attempt.
