Pursue your fashion dream first and then start sewing

Sewing and The Fashion Dream

Sewing and The Fashion Dream

There are a lot of women around the globe who dream of working in the fashion industry someday. It can be explained by the inclination we have for looking beautiful in our clothes because we want to feel great both inside and out.

This dream, even though we start off imagining it, influences our way of thinking since it would be great if somehow we are able to find a way to live it. Aside from the money, fashion designers touch people’s through the clothes that make them feel great.

Fashion design gives a unique sense of satisfaction especially when a show’s catwalk features your original designs. You hire a team to work for you and once the show is done you walk out of the backstage to be introduced as the creator of the clothing line they just applauded to.

This vision, however surreal it may seem, is achievable. Many women are tempted to try it out but they hold back because they don’t know what it takes to become a fashion designer. There is also this misconception that only graduates from fashion schools get to become fashion designers.

Many fashion designers started from small beginnings and they worked their way up. The Hipwell’s, for example, began their fashion career in their residence. This was during a when fashion schools weren’t considered the popular choice to jumpstart a career in design.

It’s possible for people who’ve never worn designer clothes life to start a career in fashion. The clothes you’re wearing right now were created from the mind of a fashion designer. Although they’re not in the level of D&G, Chanel, etc., you still feel good wearing them otherwise it won’t be found wearing it.

Some of you might think that you need to be able to sew a simple scarf first before you can start designing clothes. Well, this skill is definitely a plus, but, just like any skill it can be learned via sewing website. It is more important to have strong motivation, perseverance, and a clear vision of what you want to create.

Also, don’t be caught up in the build-up of the media of fashion cities like New York where high-profile designers work. It can’t be denied that these fashion designers are great ones but it doesn’t mean it’s the only place where the industry thrives and the only place where you can make it big.

Fashion is everywhere. People wear it every day whether you’re in a big city or a small town. You can find inspiration for you unique creations anywhere and there are always fashion designers even in small locales that can impart in you valuable information.

Seek them out. Don’t worry about making it big and the high profile stuff, because if you really are the next great designer, the fashion world will recognize you.
