Winter is looming in most parts of the country now but that doesn't mean we can't have all the pretty dresses, anymore. As a matter of fact, now is a good time to start planning for another set of sewing projects that we can use post-summer and pre-spring.
Next year's colours are currently shifting to more earthy colours, which is definitely a breather from summer's brilliant hues. One of the best things about earthy colours? They are easy to play around with, with any pattern. You don't need to fear being overstyled or overdoing a certain outfit.
So our sewing inspirations for December 2015 will be all about the many things we can wear for all seasons throughout 2016!
The Fall Staple - Oversized Sweaters
Got some time for knitting? Then do not miss out on creating your own oversized knitted sweater. Since we are dealing with earthy colours this year, you are definitely freer to play around with a combination of any of the season's hues. Just because temperature's dropping does not mean we can't play with colours anymore right? So get on your knitting mood and start recreating another oversized sweater.
If you do not have much time but still want your own sewing output for Fall 2015, then a good excuse is to make an infinity scarf - from scratch. This has always been an exciting activity for me because I get to choose my kind of fabric, design, and length. Don't you just hate it when you get to be limited by a shop's options? Exactly why we sew our own stuff right?
So when it comes to sewing scarves, it will take less than an hour if you're a pro, and definitely less than a day for starters. The steps are rather easy, as it just involves sewing the fabric from inside out, before closing the edges. The better you get at sewing infinity scarves, the more variety you can make? Note that scarves are not only great accessories for fall, but for all other seasons, as well.
Pumpkin Dresses for Children (And Yours Too)
Halloween is fast approaching and in no time there will be a rush for costumes especially for kids. So, it's a good idea to try and sew something for the trick or treat season as early as now. A great inspiration I recently bumped into is a long-sleeved chevron dress made of real cotton. This is something that you can definitely recreate for your little darling. You may even opt to skip putting a pumpkin applique to the dress while still waiting for Halloween so that the dress can still be used for other occasions. Additional ideas: a mother-daughter dress! That's if you still have time.
When you have been sewing for too long, it can be tough to find new items to toy around with in the sewing machine. So it helps to have some new inspirations around the web to keep us going. The best thing about these August sewing inspirations? They will not only look good in pictures, but are also highly functional in your daily activities.
