Cropped top is all over the fashion world lately. Girls and women are wearing it almost everywhere, from their casual errands, hippie parties, and even formal events. There is certainly no stopping cropped tops from going out of scene anytime, soon. But, do you know what's cooler than these cropped tops? A cropped top you made yourself!

It may not be one of this season's best bet to be a sewing project, but just imagine how cool it would be to done your own cropped top creation once the weather permits.

Here's the quickest guide to sewing your own fashionable cropped top without having to spend anything. It's so quick and cheap that you can make more than one for yourself or as gifts. Some heads up, it may require some of your good-old favorite shirts, too.

1) Prepare the Materials

As previously mentioned, this sewing project will ideally use an old shirt (pick those ones you've had for years, but have not worn in the past three months or so). If you want those fitted cropped tops, you can also go for some tank tops to experiment with. To add a new flavor to the outfit, you can also use some fabric cut-outs you have from your previous sewing project.

2) Measurements

Start folding your shirt or tank top to your desired length. Once decided, add one more inch for them hem, and pin the entire fold. You can also leave an allowance in the botton of your shirt if you plan to add extra fabric there. Add few inches more if you want to add elastic at the bottom of your top.

3) Cuts and SewingCut the top from the fold. You have the option to cut it straight, curve, or triangular. Any style will certainly do for this sewing project. For stretchy top fabric, make sure that the top is fully flat before cutting.

4) EmbellishmentsAside from fabrics, you can also create more uniqueness to your new cropped top by adding any embellishment you have from your stack of sewing materials.
